I love making a gorgeous holiday table. You may have see my inexpensive dollar store Thanksgiving table that I posted the other day. One thing I’m not great at? Folding napkins.
Napkins are not only a practical item for a holiday table setting but also an opportunity to add an elegant touch to your decor. One way to elevate your tablescape is by using unique napkin folds. With a little bit of practice and creativity, you can turn a simple napkin into a beautiful piece of art. Below, I share 10 different napkin folds (including their YouTube tutorials that will show you step-by-step–or rather fold by fold–how to transform your napkins into something that will impress your dinner guests).
The Rose
The rose napkin fold is a classic and elegant way to add a touch of romance to your table. To create this fold, start by folding the napkin in half diagonally to form a triangle. Then, fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center, creating a diamond shape. Finally, roll the bottom edge of the diamond towards the tip, forming the rose shape.
The Crown
The crown napkin fold is perfect for a royal-themed holiday party. To create this fold, start by folding the napkin in half diagonally to form a triangle. Then, fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center, creating a diamond shape. Fold the top layer of the diamond down towards the bottom edge, forming a small triangle. Fold the left and right corners towards the center, and tuck them underneath the small triangle.
The Star
The star napkin fold is perfect for a winter wonderland themed holiday party. To create this fold, start by folding the napkin in half diagonally to form a triangle. Then, fold the napkin in half again to form a smaller triangle. Fold the left and right corners of the triangle towards the center, forming a diamond shape. Fold the top layer of the diamond down towards the bottom edge, forming a small triangle. Fold the left and right corners towards the center, creating a six-pointed star shape.
The Fancy Pouch
The fancy pouch napkin fold is perfect for holding silverware or a small treat. To create this fold, start by folding the napkin in half diagonally to form a triangle. Fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center, forming a diamond shape. Fold the bottom edge of the diamond up towards the center, creating a small pocket.
The Fall Leaf

Fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center, forming a diamond shape. Fold the top layer of the diamond down towards the bottom edge, forming a small triangle. Fold the left and right corners towards the center, creating the wings of the angel.
The Necktie
The necktie napkin fold is perfect for a Father’s Day celebration. To create this fold, start by folding the napkin in half diagonally to form a triangle. Fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center, forming a diamond shape. Fold the bottom edge of the diamond up towards the center, creating the knot of the necktie. Fold the left and right corners of the diamond towards the center, forming the collar of the necktie.
The Christmas Tree
The Christmas tree napkin fold is perfect for a holiday party. To create this fold, start by folding the napkin in half diagonally to form a triangle. Then fold the right and left corners up to the top corner to create a smaller triangle. Fold the top layer of the left and right corners down to meet the bottom edge of the napkin, leaving a small gap between them. Then fold the entire napkin in half from the bottom up, tucking the top corner into the small gap you created earlier. Last, flip the napkin over and tuck the bottom point up to create the trunk of the tree.
The Swirl
The swirl napkin fold can be used for many different occasions to create a sophisticated and professional look. To make this napkin fold, start with a square napkin and fold it in half diagonally to create a triangle. Fold the right and left corners of the triangle up to the top point, creating a diamond shape. Then fold the bottom corner of the diamond up to the top point, creating a smaller diamond shape. Starting at the left corner, fold the napkin into a a fan by folding it over on itself in even increments. Once the napkin is fully folded into a fan, hold the center and gently twist the bottom of the fan to create a spiral shape. Finally, place the napkin on the table with the spiral side facing up.
The Classic Pyramid
Like the swirl, the classic pyramid can work for a variety of occasions. To make this elegant fold, fold a square napkin in half diagonally to create a triangle. Then take the bottom corner of the triangle and fold it up to the top corner, creating a smaller triangle. Fold the left and right corners of the smaller triangle up to the top point, creating a diamond shape. Then fold the left and right corners of the diamond inward to meet at the center, creating a smaller diamond shape. Take the top corner of the diamond shape and fold it down to meet the bottom point, tucking it into the pocket created by the previous fold. Then flip the napkin over and repeat steps 4-5 on the other side.
