Today I’m sharing some great rustic, farmhouse holiday decor to get ready for the Christmas season. I have always gone a little crazy decorating at Christmastime. Now that we own our own home, my husband has been forced to put up hundreds of lights. Although, I think he kind of likes it. He gets to pull out his super-tall ladder and put on his manly tool belt (which I don’t mind 😉 ) and spend hours on the roof, away from all the chaos that is me blasting my Christmas music while I decorate the inside of our house. Since we have moved on up in the world and now own over 2,000 square feet–more than twice as much as our old apartment, we have slowly had to buy more furniture and décor to fill up each room. And while we have two rooms that I feel are completely finished, including my Victorian-inspired dining room, we still have a long way to go. But while finding new treasures, whether it be at department stores, antique shops, yard sales, or thrift stores, “the hunt” is one of my favorite parts of the process.
Not having enough furniture and décor for our big house is also an issue when it comes to my holiday décor. I’ve got to get more stuff this year because I just don’t have enough decorations for all this space. And because one of my favorite and yes, one of the most popular décor themes at the moment is the ‘farmhouse look,’ which I don’t think is going away any time soon, I have been on the lookout for some good ol’ rustic farmhouse holiday décor. I’ve been hunting on craigslist, Etsy, thrift stores, yard sales, and department and discount décor stores such as Marshalls. I’ve compiled some of my favorite farmhouse holiday décor items from one of my favorite discount department stores: TJ Maxx.
