Love yoga? How about bunnies? Today I want to share with you a little info about the first annual Reno Bunny Yoga Festival. Did you know ‘bunny yoga’ is a thing? I didn’t! I saw some goat yoga happening on TV (The Bachelor?) once, but had no idea yoga with animals running around is actually something that people do. Until now.
So what exactly is “bunny yoga?”
It’s pretty much exactly what I just described. You do yoga, while your bunny runs around and has fun making new friends and enhancing your crescent lunge.
Background
The festival is being held in Reno, Nevada and supports an amazing cause: saving bunnies! Good Elephant has teamed up with Reno Rabbit Rescue, a brand new non-profit organization that “dreams of a world in which all pet rabbits live indoors where they are safe from the elements, predators, and disease.”
Sadly, there’s an abundance of abandoned rabbits each year (especially after the Easter holiday) and not much is being done to care for and support these animals. Reno Rabbit Rescue’s goal is to teach the proper ways to care for rabbits, including housing, feeding, health, exercise, and mental stimulation.
How did I get involved in this?
Ok, I’m not really “involved.” I met a wonderful lady, Carly Neubert, who rescues bunnies (& founded Reno Rabbit Rescue) while I was looking for a place to board our bunny for our trip to San Diego. She told me about Reno Rabbit Rescue and I knew I wanted to use this platform to spread the word and help as much as I could.
Didn’t know I have a bunny? I do! I posted a photo of him on Instagram when we first got him but I haven’t shared too much since then because he’s always running around and it’s so hard to snap a non-blurry photo of him. His name is Peter (yes, really) and he is the cutest. We got him for our four-year-old’s birthday this year. He’s fluffy and sweet and has free range over our house. People come cover and there’s this bunny running around and they’re like “whaaaat?” Yeah, that’s us! The weird bunny family. But we love him so much.

Never done yoga before? That’s ok! I took a yoga class several years ago at the local community college and loved it but I’m no expert and definitely not the stereotypical “yoga type.” Come out and have some fun, do some yoga, adopt a bunny, and/or donate to this fantastic organization.
If you can’t attend but would like to make a donation, donate here.
