Merry Christmas Eve! I’m a little sad to be done with sharing Christmas décor for my weekly ‘Tuesday’s TJ Maxx Finds’ posts but I’m always excited for a new year and all the possibilities and fresh starts that come with it.
Although I don’t do new year’s resolutions, I always try to set new goals for myself. Towards the end of this year I started cake decorating (I’ll share my Christmas cake on Instagram tomorrow) and for this new year my goal is to learn to ski, if life allows. My kids are great skiers and I was supposed to take lessons last year but I was so sick so often that I missed most of my lessons. Plus, I’m deathly afraid of chair lifts. Where are the seatbelts?? Why does it have to go so high? There has to be a less scary way to get to the top of a mountain. I had a really terrible experience last year and almost gave up on winter sports forever. However, I recently told Huz I’m going to give it one more shot. So, in January I’ll be attempting skiing one last time–fingers crossed. I have to remember that it’s ok to be scared and it’s ok to be not-so-great at something new.
Something else I like to do every new year is redecorate and switch up my home décor after all the Christmas decorations have come down. It gives me something to do so I’m not so sad about the holidays ending and it kind of signals a fresh start in my mind. I have plans for some furniture I’m going to refinish and maybe even a wall or two to paint.
Right now at TJ Maxx there are lots of great interior design books for every style and décor interest. I’ve been dying for a Rachel Ashwell book so I might just have to get that one for myself. Interior design books are not only useful for inspiration, but they’re also great décor props. I use them for coffee table vignettes, shelf displays, and to fill any empty spots in my home. Here are some of the best interior design books at TJ Maxx online that you can get right now:
Are you planning on redecorating any parts of your home this new year?
